Some Sumac bushes are turning bright red around here now. Beware of them, though... they can be as bad as poison oak/ ivy!!

Just a note about this . . .
The sumac you generally see in Tennessee along the roadside or on farmland is not poison sumac (in fact, they are not even in the same genus).
While there is poison sumac in some parts of Tennessee, it's not that common through most of Tennessee (as far as I know).

I know as a kid in N.Y the farmers would burn Sumac, it was used as wind rows. You did not want to be down wind it would mess up your lungs for weeks, And looking for more info on the TN variety of Sumac I found the town of Sumac,TN...... Does that have a rusty red cone at the end of the steams ?

Getting more action in the yard, and the cold front has even come through, yet.
I hope no one minds my pictures. It's my first yard and I am amazed by it.

These pics are beauties and I couldn't give you a rep. I think City Data should up the amount threshold for reps.

We have gotten some rain and the weather has turned off a bit cooler. Those conditions sure have caused the leaves to turn since the weekend. I dont think think the colors will be spectacular, but the trees are changing fast.
