That's funny...but those kind of muisunderstandings don't just happen in the South. We were right here at home in No. CA when hubby asked the waitress for the specials. She told us about two delicious sounding specials. My husband said "I'll have the latter". She looked at him funny and said "WHAT??!" My husband said "the latter of the two." She said "What's a ladder got to do with it??" We tried not to laugh and said "Nevermind, I'll have the fish".

That's hysterical! You should send that story in to Reader's Digest.

Well, I am not an outsider but I wanted to share anyway. We spent a lot of time growing up between Kingsport and our place on Watauga Lake. So, we would pass through Elizabethton each way. While there are a lot of flea markets in east TN there used to be a lot more than there are now. We always kept beagles growing up for hunting dogs and we always were worried and flea and tick issues. So on one of our trips we were driving down the main drag in E-ton and my brother exclaimed: "Look, there's a tick market!".

Did you ever try some in Toms River NJ especially on route 37? Talk about cars backed up on some of them.I hated them, but for me , they don't make me nervous like the middle lane turns,

Ok, I must ask. What is a jughandle?? Is that a lane shaped like one or something?

It's easier just to look it up on wiki; there is even a (bad) photo of both a jughandle and a reverse jughandle.

YES KIND OF if you need to cross a highway to get on the oppisite side there is a turn on your side of the highway that will curve around just like a jug handle,it usually has a light there, you then can cross over the highway.I hope that helps a little

Oh wait, I know what that is now. We have those here, we don't call it a "jughandle."
