Being from Florida -yes we are aggressive but when you have people from all over the U.S. visiting, everyone drives different. You have to be aggressive to stay alive.

Is that the dial on your phones? My friend told me her kids had to ask how it worked when they saw a phone without push buttons.

I think I was in Memphis once on a work related trip, asked for directions and someone told me to take a dog leg. I still don't know what that is.

LOL! A dog-leg is a sharp turn in the road, usually followed by another sharp turn in the opposite direction so that the road would look bent like a dog's hind leg.

We had a road here that had a 4-way stop right at a dog-leg. NONE of the 4 stop signs at the intersection were aligned with another and when the area started to get build up, you could tell the newcomers to the area because they never could manage the intersection properly. Fortunately, the county came in a few years ago and rerouted portions of the road so the intersection is now properly aligned.

The first fall my wife and were on our property, we had a man and his son walk past the NO HUNTING signs and start shooting rabbits on our property less than 400 feet from the house and house was in sight of them. I walked down and asked them to quit as we now owned the property. The man told me he had hunted the property for years and would continue to do so. I went back up to the house and called the sherriffs office. Well the didn't make it out to get the hunter and his son. But we filled out a report and I gave them the license number of the guy pickup. About a month later they showed up again doing the same stuff. I called the TRWA officer this time, he also didn't make it out to the house either. This time the guy went over a locked gate.
I was ready the next year. It happend again. This time I let the air out of two tires on his pickup, after I called the authorities. They caught him this time. Nothing was done as he KNEW all the law officers in town, the wildlife officer, ect.
He got a warning. I was told "welcome to tennessee"
The good ole boy system is definately alive and well there.

Yeah, that happened on our first farm. The land was vacant for years so hunters and people riding horses thought they could use the land when they wanted. My husband warned these people and told them there is no hunting on this land anymore. They didn't believe him. So anytime Mike heard gunfire he would go outside, this was 112 acres, and just start shooting his gun toward the gunfire. Mike soon got the reputation of being crazy and no more hunters trespassed. Eventually the locals respected and liked us.

Worked for us.

Good for you and Mike! Had similar experiences here as well. May I suggest using a covert video/audio recording device on your person to have a record of the event should the individuals make false allegations or claims to the local law enforcement. As an outsider, your word carries NO value. It comes in REAL handy when you can request whomever makes such a charge against you to put it in writing and swear to it under oath, after which you can play the recorded event in its entirity and fact.

I just looked it up. It looks like you have to go through the same intersection twice. What a pain!

The police officer lifted the deers head by his antlers, took his gun out, shot the deer, and dragged him to the side of the road. At the time I was thinking, OMG we live in Mayberry. Now I realize that he was just putting that buck out of his pain and misery using the quickest means available.

Anyone else have any odd or funny stories about living here? Please share. This is not a put down to anything rural just an example of how different things can be.

I moved to Nashville from the suburbs of Chicago where, while many people attend church/synagogue, it's not discussed very often. Belmont was still affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention at the time, which really meant nothing to me. The first time I had lunch with some people in the cafeteria one of them put their head down and closed their eyes before they started eating. I was just opening my mouth to ask if they were "ok" when I realized they were saying grace. Oops!
