Default Job Search

My wife and I are from the Seattle area. And now that our children have grown,we have a passion to start our 2nd life here in E.Tenn. Not only because of the beauty that is here, but also because of the incredible people. I have found since moving here last month, that networking is about the only way to getting into a good job enviroment. I am 44,with the highest degree of character and integrity along with the ancient teachings of solid work ethics(I have the references to back it up). The last 25 years my jobs have revolved around the automotive business. Quite honestly,I'm looking for a change and a new challenge. I have spent numerous hours pouring over newspaper ads, internet sights, and resume shuffling trying to get a foothold into something.I would appreciate any input, comments, and recommendations you might have.

What type of thing might you be looking for, if you wish to change from automotive? My brother, who was a mechanic for many years, found a new calling working with a mailing center for a cell phone company. He is the maintenance mechanic for all their giant copier/folder/inserter type equipment. Now he has been there so long he is the supervisor of the other guys. Maybe something like that, still mechanical, but not automotive?? Or maybe something like a manager for an auto parts store?? Just some ideas. Does your wife work? Is she interested in finding work in TN also?

Thanks for your input Shadow. My wife will be pursuing employment once we settle down.
