Sure they are. Why isn't a reasonably-sized TV adequate for some?

Why the fancy golf clubs? Why not the Wal Mart version?

Because you want a better one. Or a nicer one.

That's one reason why people buy different guns.

Are you implying there's another reason?

[Well, yes. Because the only reason I can think of that you'd buy an "assault rifle" is so you can shoot someone more accurately from further away.]

That about right?

Or, perhaps you'd like to share your reason for asking.

Those of us with AR's, we're all out to shoot someone? Scary world, huh?

I specifically said I didn't want to start an argument over this or really even a debate about gun control. ARs do not appeal to me in any way and I want to understand why they appeal to others.

To be honest with you, I'm not entirely sure where I stand on gun issues because I don't know anything about guns. I've only seen even a few guns in person, one of which was my college roommate's handgun that he handled very irresponsibly. I understand that not all gun owners are that way, so I have not let that cloud my judgment.

Okay, sorry for arguing with you.

We might buy an AR because we think they're neat and fun to shoot.

They're fun to shoot. In addition to being relatively inexpensive to purchase and keep fed, they're incredibly reliable. Mainly though, they're fun.

This really isn't about Guns and Tennessee; it is more about guns. This is not appropriate for a state forum. Closed.
