Default Seeing Tennessee

Crawling up Monteagle hauling eighty thousand pounds
or flying down Clinch Mountain on the way to Morristown,
from Bristol down to Memphis any place is fine with me.
It's great to be a trucker when you're seeing Tennessee.

I woke up in Arkansas all bogged down in self pity
until I learned that my next load was going to Mountain City.
I perked up like a prisoner just recently set free.
No better way to spend the day than seeing Tennessee.

Descending from the Nashville Rim enjoying the view,
reflecting on the forces that turned my white collar blue.
Debits, credits, balance sheets that once appealed to me
now all pale in comparison to seeing Tennessee.

A trucker friend was taking in the scenery that abounds
while driving very slowly by the campus in K-town.
All the pretty coeds were an awesome sight to see.
He said, don't interrupt me while I'm seeing Tennessee.

Some folks like to travel far and wide and see the views
of Athens, Carthage, Sparta and Par-ee, to name a few.
But here's a little secret that is just 'tween you and me.
I visit all these places without leaving Tennessee.

The Yankees say I drive too slow, and shake their heads and sigh.
The natives say I drive too fast and jeopardize their lives.
But what they think or do or say just doesn't bother me
because I'm totally engrossed in seeing Tennessee.

This silly song is almost done and much to your relief,
but I have one more thing to say to which you must agree.
A Smoky Mountain sunrise trimmed in hues of blue and green
is one of the grandest things you've ever Tennesseen.
