Boy have you got the wrong town! There are no bars. The town is "dry." There are no diners. They never heard of them. Unless you go to church no one will have anything to do with you. There is nothing to do unless you like church activities 7 days a week. There are no stores except for the dollar general. If you like cheap junk you'll have it made. If something needs fixing you'll easily find someone to charge you to fix it but they will have no idea what they are doing. The nearest airport is in Nashville which is almost 2 hours away. Unless you like "huntin & fishin" you'll die of boredom. I think I already died here and no one bothered to bury me. Oh yes, and I guarantee you'll be the object of lots of vicious gossip as that is the favorite pastime. Dover is the armpit of the world and a cold place to any outsider. This is a friendly warning from someone that moved here without knowing all the facts.

It does take some time to get used to living in Dover, but generally everyone is pretty friendly. I grew up there and it is the small town life. There really isn't much to do. There are a few locally owned restuarants. The only name brand companies are McDonald's, Fred's, and the Dollar General.

There isn't much crime. And when there is it is hardly violent. I have only heard of maybe 3 murders since I have been around (25 years) and those were family problems related (ex-husbands killing wives, etc.), not just random violence.

It is a family oriented community. The churches do play a big part in the town. There is only 1 daycare center and only 1 other licensed daycare ran out of the home. If you are looking for a job that pays more than $7.00/hr then your best bet would be to work in Clarksville or Paris which are about 45 minutes away. To me it is worth the drive to be able to leave the big city and relax in the country after your work day is done.
