I will be retiring in May of 2007 as the Assistant Building Official for the City of Visalia, CA. My son and his family live in NC while my daughter and her family live in Georgia. My wife and I are going to be relocating to Tennessee so that we can be within one days travel to them. Is there any jurisdiction or company that could use a part time field inspecter or plans examiner. I would like to keep my mind sharp and up to date on the "I" Codes

Well Gene, I'm sure you'll find a job at the Tennesse Building Inspections department. With all new construction going on around here, I'm sure they are in need of more inspectors. Do you do home inspections or commercial inspections?

Both; From 900 square foot homes to malls. Including custom homes, tract homes using master plans and large aprtment complex. I have plan checked and inspected hotel and motel along with fast food and sitdown restuarants. I am currently inspecting a five story parking garage, a 3 story restuarant with a dwelling unit on the 3rd floor and a 38,000 square foot medical complex.
