Default Monteagle Wine Cellars

Has Monteagle Wine Cellars opened back up?
we used to stop by when they were open years ago,
but heard that the owner was murdered in 2000,
and they closed down...
Has anyone re-opened it?

We are headed that way the end of the month and want to stop by if open.
Thanks
Henry

I don't know for sure if they are open, but on the Mounteagle site it lists:
Marlow Wine Cellars Inc.
Highway 41A & Highway 64
Monteagle, TN 37356
Phone: (931)924-2120
This is the same family that owned Mounteagle Wine Cellars (which at least was partially burned after the murder).

Monteagle Winery, LLC, will be opening in the fall of 2007 under new ownership. The new winemaker has a Master and PhD in Food Science from the University of Arkansas. His graduate work was in viticulture and onology (growing grapes and making wine!) under Dr. Justin Morris. He was the principle winemaker for 2 years at another winery that opened here in TN several years ago. Look for a soft opening of Monteagle Winery in mid-October and a grand opening the first of the year.

The new owner is standing in front of me and says that the opening will be in November before Thanksgiving. We are so excited to have this wonderful winery open back up after being closed for so long. The opening will be announced.

I was up there when it was for sale. I left a message for the real estate company that was selling to get more info for my boss and never heard back. I am thrilled that it will be reopening. Monteagle is a nice little town. The High Point restaurant is amazing, it is Al Capone's old house. Great food. Please put me on the mailing list for the opening marytnewman@bellsouth.net
Even though I will not be there in November because we still live in FLA. ,we will be up in Spencer TN in December in our log home for the holidays. I will definately make a trip over in December. Good luck with the winery! I look forward to some yummy wine!
