Thumbs up We're off to Tennessee

My wife and I are leaving for a vacation trip to Tennessee on Monday. While there, we'll check on our property in Cumberland Cove, and visit Fall Creek Falls, Burgess Falls, Cumberland Mountain, and Stand Stone State Parks. We'll also take a train ride through the Hiwassee River Gorge and visit relatives in Knoxville and Clarksville. We're staying part of the time in a romantic cabin next to a small lake in Muddy Pond, TN. We'll also try to see more of Cookeville, Monterey, and Crossville. I hope we've timed this trip right to see the changing of the leaves. We can't wait!

Have a "great" trip. Take lots of pictures. I have never spent anytime in those areas and I would love to see. We always drove by on our way "home".

Have fun.

The farther into east Tn. you go the better your chances are to see maximum foilage change, probably about 80% by next week with the first real frost coming monday night. Have a safe ride!

Thanks to all of you. We're really anxious right now. I've been looking at weather reports on-line and I see that Cookeville will have a low temperature on Tuesday morning of 29 degrees, but sunshine is predicted through Thursday. We'll be bringing warm clothes.

Can anyone recommend a restaurant that has good southern style cuisine in the Cookeville, Monterey, or Crossville areas?

We will have a chance to meet some of our future neighbors in Cumberland Cove on Thursday morning as we will be attending their monthly Cove Breakfast. We're looking forward to it.

Since you'll be near Monterey you definitely need to try the Cup & Saucer. It's on Commercial Ave., which is the main drag in "downtown" Monterey. About 1/2 mile off of I-40. They also have a bunch of old historical pictures of the surrounding areas on the walls. Really neat.
In Cookeville try Maddux Station on the courthouse square or Dipsy Doodle on West Broad St(hwy 70) between Cookeville & Baxter.

That'll get ya started...

I just got back from the Cumberland Gap area and it's not full fall foliage time there, yet. I'll be at Fall Creek Falls this week, too.

Hope you packed some long sleeved things. It's going to be cold this week at night and in the early morning.
