Thumbs up
Three previous generations of my family have lived in the Cumberland City area until my mother moved to AR to live with me, so let me share some brief insights.
Small, very small, and hasn't grown much in 50 years. Pop. is maybe 500? A couple of gas stations, but it's over 30 minutes to a McDonald's or a Walmart.
Georgous territory, still undeveloped, the city is built right on the S. bank of the Cumberland River. Good fishing and hunting and not far from the Land Between the Lakes. Weather is tolerable in either extreme; they may get a snow or two each year, but it seldom stays on the ground more than 3 days.
The people there are just great - friendly, warm, and frequently well educated. Good values. They have too many churches in my opinion. If you raise a garden, you'll have to compete with some experts if you want to show off your tomatoes, squash, or corn. Just pretend that you don't know how and they'll bring you all you need anyway.
To summarize, it's probably a poor place to find a job, but a great place to retire or just to settle down away from the hustle of the rest of the world.
