You may also want to check out Dandridge if you will be in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg anyhow. Dandridge is right on the shore of Douglas Lake, and while it is right next to Sevier county, Jefferson County does not have nearly the congestion problems.

Here's Douglas Lake:

Cookeville is about 3 hours from Gatlinburg, maybe a little more if it's a beautiful fall weekend and traffic in the mountains is pretty bad.

One of the nice things about Cookeville (and there are many) is that it's in a beautiful setting, you don't need to battle the Sevierville / Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg traffic nightmare if you want to see fall colors. But you're also only a 3 hour drive away if you really do want to go spend a weekend (or a day) in the beautiful Smoky Mountains.

And Cookeville is also only an hour from the Nashville airport with its cheap and plentiful flights (half the price of flights out of Knoxville or the Tri Cities).

And, as you saw from those pictures, there are some beautiful lakes around Cookeville.

Please feel free to ask any other questions you want. And come on down!
Thank you for the compliment about my attitude! I feel that Tennesee is beautiful, and I want to come and enjoy the beauty you all have, and want to get away from the rat race here. It seems here you ALWAYS have to be on your guard,I know it may take me alittle to get use to the friendliness in Tennesee. But I cant wait! I would like to visit cookeville and the lakes, I will see how our time allows down there.I that you for your kindness and help, and see ALL new jersey people arent rude have a GREATweekend

MY GOD!!! Center hill lake looks so blue. Is that picture for real??

In any case, where I am currently planning on moving to, I would be closer to Dale hollow lake. Have any more pictures of it?

You all aren't making it any easier for me to decide to go ahead and sell our PWC.
