We are thinking of retiring to TN. We currently live on the outskirts of a city of approximately 50,000. We would like a town that has the needed stores (lowes, walmart, fast food, restaurants) but isn't too big. We are looking for a town that doesn't have so much traffic but has lakes, mountains, hiking, biking, tennis, golf and medical facilities. Any suggestoins on which town in TN is what we are looking for.

Well, so far, you have named three that fit you bill. How about some other things that are important to you that might help us here give you better suggestions. What else are you looking for in a new home town? Do you need work? How about a church denomination? Other Hobbies you would need supplies or access to besides the above mentioned? In regards to lakes, is that for boating, fishing or swimming? All three?
Are you looking to rent or own? What kind of housing in general?
The more info you give us about what you are looking for, the better we can offer advice.
