Default Central location.....

My family and I are considering a move to the Cookeville area. My wife is a teacher and we have 3 kids ranging from 9 to 14. We would love to have about 15 to 20 acres just outside of town. I know the schools are highly thought of as well as the town itself. We love the outdoors, fishing, hunting, riding atv's, and hanging out on the lakes. I realize it's tough to have it all in one place but if we could centrally locate ourselves to the best area that would help alot.

I own an architectural and landscape lighting business and would need to continue in this business after the move. With that in mind the majority of my business comes from high-end homes (400k and up). I would imagine that would include the Nashville area and perhaps some of the homes around the lakes. I would cover a 50 mile radius from my location.....would Cookeville fit?

You could live just west of Cookeville in the Baxter area and still be in Putnam County. Since it's an open school system, you can live anywhere in the county and send your kids to any school in the county you want. From Western Putnam County you'd be only an hour from Nashville. There are high-end homes near there around Center Hill Lake, and there are quite a few springing up in the Mount Juliet area, or about 45 minutes from Baxter.

Good luck!

Thanks JMT, how far east would I need to go before encountering homes in that range?
