Temps tonight across the state?
So, our youngest daughter had her 15th birthday party tonight. When it was over we had to shuttle kids up the mountain to their homes. Coming back down the mountain to where we live I noticed the temp - 18 degrees!! That's why I'm so cold!!! LOL!!
We spent a good part of the day raking leaves off about an acre and a half and burning them. Kept us warm for a while!
So, what's everyone else doing and what are the temps in your area? Any snow out there anyplace? At least if I had some snow to look at it would be worth 18 degrees. How in the world do they live with negative temps up north??

Here in Nashville, its currently 27 degress. I'm cold too! It's even supposed to climb down to 21 degrees later on tonight. I can't wait to hop in my nice warm bed. I think on the news they said some people around here saw some snow flurries. I wouldn't deny it. It's cold. Is it me, or does winter here in TN seem to be colder every year? By the way, which part of the state do you live in?

Wow, it got down to 15. My heat pump is having a horrible time trying to keep the house warm. It's on the emergency heat now and still can't warm up the house enough. Where is the warm south?

Ah, an electric heat pump. Where in TN are you? I used to have an electric heat pump when I lived in East Knox County, and I will never ever make that mistake again. While natural gas heat may be a little more expensive these days, it's sooo nice to have a house that is toasty warm. I can actually put my hands over the vents and feel hot air coming out. I have mine set at 68 and am walking around my house barefoot.
At any rate, it was 17 outside when I got up this morning. Needless to say, my puppies didn't stay outside very long when I let them out for their morning constitutionals...

It's currently 21 in Nashville.
However, it's toasty warm inside and cat and I are thinking about taking a nap. Actually, said cat is already taking a nap. I shall wake her up so that we can take a nap together.

I think it hit the mid-20s overnight here in Cookeville (not exactly sure but it was around 26 at midnight). I have been pretty darn cold the last few days every time I go outside. Now I'm getting worried that I won't be able to take it when we go to Colorado in a month. We are surprising the children with a ski/snowmobile/just check out the Rockies trip for Christmas. This is a once-in-a-childhood trip for them (well, they are 16, 16 and 19 so time's runnin' out on the childhood thing anyway, right?). I have ordered some of those fancy ridiculous ski jackets for everybody (did you know some of those skiwear companies actually charge $700+ for a nylon ski jacket? Thank God for The Internet and super-clearance deals) and I'm just going to have to put my faith in their ability to keep us from turning into snappily-dressed little icicles.
Night before last, I was leaving my place of employment at around 12:30 a.m. and when the doors opened, a blast of cold air and wind hit me and nearly knocked me over. I was sort of shocked. There were little funky "snowflakes" on my car that looked like powdered laundry detergent. I LOVE cold weather, love snow, love all of that stuff, but somehow I wasn't that impressed with it the other night.
Now I have to check the forecast to see what's going on for the next week or so. It sorta sneaked up on me, this freezing weather. I like to be able to see it coming so I can zip up my jacket.

We're in Van Buren Co., outside of Spencer. Have no clue what the low dipped to last night. We don't have any heat source other than space heaters. We've moved the two kids left living at home into the same bedroom for the winter to cut back on heating costs. Last year trying to heat the entire house with 7 kids ran the electric bill up to almost $700. Caney Fork Electric loved us!!
The kids are wanting to go to the Go Cart / Fun Park in Murfreesboro today to ride Go Carts. I told them they'll be teen popsicles, but they're still pushing to go. So I guess I have to get all bundled up and take 4 teens that way. Ugh!!
As for the critters, our dogs flat refused to go out until after 9AM this morning. And for all but 4 of them it was a quick run out and back in. One of the rotties, the rat terrier and two of the chihuahuas didn't want to come back in. They ran for a good 10 minutes. Of course once they were back in the terrier and chis hopped in bed with daddy and snuggled under the covers and still haven't moved. The rottie is on her bed in front of a heater. It's freaking cold!!
