Can you email me with your home builders info?
Hi, I read your post and was curious about your home builder. I would like to get some estimates to develop and build on my own property. I appreciate it.

Florida and TN differ by far. Florida is too expensive as I have lived there all my life Miami to be exact. Now living in East TN. Cold weather takes some getting used to as do the many gloomy days of Winter, However, economically it is by far cheaper. You can purchase a large home pretty much in any east TN county of land for under 250K. Obviously the closer to the tourist attractions the more you'll spend. But don't expect to make much over 50K a year. But it balances out. Those looking to move here do your homework as unemployment rates are on the rise.. Biggest dealer in Morristown just closed the other day. Lifetime Kia...

My family and I moved to West TN from Lansing MI about 3 years ago and I would NEVER move back to MI for anything! West TN is probably the most rural in the state and I absolutely love the small towns! This is the safest we have felt in years and I can actually forget to lock my front door and not panic in the morning when I've discovered my error. I think many people are moving to TN from MI because the cost of living is very affordable. Another major reason is many people have lost their jobs and can't find another one (which is why we left) and some are flat out tired of the weather. (another reason we left ) I have friends who still live in MI and they are in the same position they have been in since I left. Working dead end jobs, paying high rent in a bad neighborhood and just barely getting by. Many of them want to follow suit, but can't save up the money for the move.

My fiance' moved down here from MI 4 years ago. He loves it and will never return to MI. When his mother came to visit, she loved it and her, her husband and the grown stepdaughter all moved here within a few months. The nephew came to visit last year and wants to make plans to move here as well. The ex-wife and family are coming to visit this Fall and have already mentioned they would like to move here.
Their reason were...
rural, good places to raise a family/kids, the mountains/streams/outdoor activities involving those, they feel folks form TN have better values than in MI (? go figure) and they like the weather here.
In Coker Creek.....there are more folks moving from Florida there than MI. You see Florida tags where in this county you see lots of MI tags on cars. I hear from a future brother in law in Florida that Eric Estrada (sp?) has tons of info type commercials that play in Florida about the land for sale in Tellico Plains and Coker Creek areas.
Oh well, I don't mind it so much unless they start making fun of my accent or make too many Beverly Hillbilly or deliverance jokes. The only thing really that drives me nuts is when someone moves here from out of state and for years all you hear is "In MI we don't do it like that" "In MI they blah blah blah and it makes sense, don't know why people down here have not realized that yet", "In MI we like....". I can understand when they first get here and comparisons are normal but if you are still doing it after a few years...it is time to go back to MI. Fiance's stepdad was the worst for this. I bit my tongue more than you could imagine....then last winter he laughed about schools letting out because of a few inches of snow and informed me for the millionth time "IN MI....". I told him MI don't have mountains like we do here and I would rather they cancel school than see the bus slide off the side of the mountain and kill all the kids. I also told him he did not seem happy here and if he missed MI so bad. maybe he should high tail it out of TN. He moved to Florida last month....
so.... good luck Floridians....because in MI they don't do things like you do down there!

im just speaking from one city in TN Clarksville and i think 1.the rush is that the cost of living is so low and 2. crime rate here has drastically risen with more murders in the past years

Soon the new census will be taken and all states, cities, and towns will have a more accurate take on migration.
Some will have perceptions proven corrct , some will realize their perceptions were false.

I was born/raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I do know there were alot of people from Tenn. and other southern states living in Cleveland and the suburbs who came up to work at the Ford and Chevy Plants that were going real strong at that time. Possible they are retiring and moving back to TN.? I love TN. My dad was from there, Morristown. I just can't take the heat and humidity. Gotta get back there to visit one day.
