Default Carthage- One of the gems of ol' TN

I decided to post a thread in tribute of the town I live in (or just outside), Carthage Tn. My grandparents lived here when i was a little girl and it just so happens that my husband and I found some land here in 2005 that was perfect for building a house-only a few short miles from where my grandparents lived.

Carthage is between Cookeville and Lebanon-very centrally located to larger shopping districts like Knoxville and Nashville. The schools are great and the scenery is spectacular.

I always wanted to live here and now I do. It has been a lovely three years. My son loves his little country school w/ a view of Lake Defeated and my husband loves exploring our twenty acres. Unfortunately, new priorities are making us sell our newly built home. I guess that's why I wanted to post an entry in homage to this darling little town. Maybe someday we'll come back.

I left my home in TN to work in TX for three months back in the late 80's. Like I said, only three months as thats all the time I could stand being away from Gods country and came back. I said I'd never leave again and I have held true to that.Since then I married and we have two kids 12 & 15 and we traveled many places in the US in about all directions, but only to meet up with friends and scattered family, or just for the kids to see what else is out there. I can honestly say I never slept well until my family and I got back home here in middle TN. I guess I'll finish living until I die with the rest of the life long folks & family here in sticks of DeKalb county TN.

These are both lovely posts, alicenevada and RS. You both state what most feel once settled in on TN soil, I think.

We hear it time and time again that folks who leave for whatever reason are always drawn back to this area. The natural beauty, the homey ways, the ever-obliging people who live here - they all touch a person like not many places can.

DH and I are ready and itching to get our house sold and find our new home in TN for the very feelings that you both have for your native soil. Thank you for such touching posts.
