Default Byrdsville, dale hollow Lake info

Hi,

I've decided to move to TN, now I have to decide where.

The Smokies region is my first choice but I can't afford anything there.

The lakes near Byrdsville look good, wooded, privacy, and boating/fishing.

Is this area booming or stagnating?

How is the humidity in the summer?

Are the ppl there outgoing or backward?

Crime?

Any other input on this area? Will be retiring so don't need lots of jobs around. Will need a home Depot or similar within 25-50 miles or so. Groceries and the usual. Need internet service too.

Thanks

Byrdstown, not Byrdsville, is pretty rural - about 45 minutes from Cookeville and an hour from Somerset, KY. People are friendly but country, sweet and helpful. Beautiful area.

What do you mean by backward?

Pickett County (Byrdstown) is the smallest of Tennessee's 95 counties, but it's one of the most beautiful, in my opinion. Dale Hollow Lake is gorgeous. I think there's only one factory in all of Pickett County (all I remember is they make automobile components and it's French). But the highways connecting Byrdstown to Cookeville are really good and four lanes most of the way.

And as KC38506 said, the people there are very friendly and very country. But I'm not sure how to answer your question of whether or not they're "backward."
