Butch's girl is on a distinguished road
Default Red Boiling Springs/lafayette

Hi,

My step-daughter and her hubby/kids live in RBS and her father and I are thinking of moving to RBS/Lafayette area. I have worked most of my adult years in the service dept of a major auto dealer and her dad is a local truck driver. My biggest concern with moving is finding a job. I don't think there are any auto dealerships locally........how far to the closest one (for employement)?
Does anyone know about local truck driving jobs? He does not want over the road.....just a day trucking job he has a CDL-A (no points!!)
I can do clerical but my training is in the ERA system for auto dealers, I can learn.....just at a slower rate as I get older..lol.
We don't have to move right in the same town, but close by would be nice. We would be moving from Middletown, OH. I work in Centerville (about a 20 mile drive one way).

I would want to rent a house (a fenced in yard for my dog J.D. a husky, would be a high priority) before I buy. I would want to get to know the area before I could make a choice like that.

I have not be lucky enough to have kids myself, so I am really looking forward to being able to spoil my (step) grandkids. They just don't understand why mamaw and papaw can't come over for dinner on a moments notice or why they can't stay all night.

Any help or advise would be great. Thank you
Debbie and Butch

Debbie,
I don't know if you've made the decision yet, since it's been awhile since your post, but I felt the need to reply. How many times have you visited RBS and how long did you stay when you did? You definitely need to spend some time there before deciding to live there. See if your ideals match the ideals of the rural mentality. If your step-daughter and her husband are well known and liked there, then it might be worth the move. Definitely check into larger neighboring towns for more employment opportunities. I hope your husky is an inside dog. I don't know how hot it gets in OH, but the summers here are very hot and humid.
I'm not trying to talk you out of moving to TN, because it's a beautiful state. Just make sure you do your homework on the towns your considering.
Good luck
