New owner here! And there's another poster on here from Florida that finally got her land here and she and her husband have moved up and are in teh process of building. They're right around the corner from me. They had to disconnect the Florida e-mail though so I can't get in touch with them. I lost the cell phone number.

Nope. They're supposed to start widening the section from south of Hwy 30 to the base of the plateau soon but with the state as broke as it is who knows.

Well, the finances have never been great. It's a small county with a mostly low income tax base. That being said, there's been more whining about being broke than usual but not much in the way of repercussions yet. Stay tuned.

Slowed to a crawl. Still a house going up here and there but not much. Quite a few for sale signs growing roots. A sprinkling of foreclosures in the paper every week since about mid-summer. Some houses, mostly empty lots in the new developments. A few convenient fires. One of the larger developers put over 7000 acres on the auction block back in September in what was rumored to be an act of financial desperation.

Local law enforcement is supposed to get quite a bit of money from the new methadone clinic. Hopefully that will help even out their budget in times like this when sales tax receipts crash.

Thats if the city manger gives the money to pd. They have a habit of spending the money on other things then law enforcement. I think people are getting some type of kickbacks for things they need. It might be time for change up there and a honest government.

OK, update. Property tax collections are looking bad. They've delayed the purchase of new patrol cars for the sheriff and are talking about closing all county offices one day a week.
