Default Information about LaVergne/Smyrna

Can anyone give me information on the LaVergne/Smyrna area? Crime? Shopping? Schools? Employment? Any details from personal experience or local reputation? Anything is appreciated.

LaVergne and Smyna used to just about be the "outback"--small towns on the way to Murfreesboro. With the growth in the area, the building of the Nissan plant, and other factors, it isn't anymore.

The area has been built up in the past twenty or thirty years. Most of the areas are still nice for the most part (from what I know). I have friends who live there and they don't seem to have many complaints other than the traffic. Traffic is heavy from Nashvile to the south.

I would post some more information but I'm betting someone who lives there will be along and they can give you a better view of the current situation.

Does anyone have information on these areas? I read something about an issue with a gun in a LaVergne high school? Is this normal?

I just moved to Smyrna from East TN about 5 weeks ago. I like it here but there is no shopping (other than for groceries). You'll have to commute about 20 mins to Nashville or Murfreesboro for that. They are, however, building a Target,Kohls, & Old Navy so that should be changing a bit. The crime here is pretty low. I prefer the west because it seems nicer, newer, and all of the new developments-businesses and homes-are in the west, right off of exit 66B. LaVergne is probably a different story. I'm staying away from there because it borders Antioch and the crime and trash is spilling over into la vergne and it may be just a matter of time before that whole area is trashed. I personally commute to Brentwood to work but I think it depends on what type of work you are looking for. The city government here pays their employees well. There's also the Nissan plant that employs many people. I-24 traffic is terrible, especially in the mornings going towards Nashville. I've been told by several people that the schools here are good. I've also been told to stay away from davidson county schools.

For me, Smyrna is okay, but LaVergne is a dump. Both are a little smaller than a like, but neither seem to have any type of charm.

The schools aren't too bad, but you'll find better ones in Murfreesboro.

Like a previous poster mentioned, other than basic things, you'll probably need to do your shopping in Nashville/M'Boro.

Employment shouldn't be a problem in either.

I don't know if it is just a media spin, but always seem to hear about a lot of crime in LaVergne, specially considering its size. I don't hear too much about Smyrna.
