Munford/Brighton
I'm still searching for a place to live! Although I'd prefer to live near Nashville, I must focus my search on the Memphis area in order to keep my son closer to his dad. Does anyone live in or know much about Munford or Brighton? I've done a little research on the Net, but there is nothing worth more than first-hand info. The high schools seem really good according to reviews and test scores. If a commute into Memphis for work is necessary, it might not be too bad, but this kind of info would be helpful as well. I don't mind a 30-45 minute commute if I can live in a good, safe community where my son will be in a good school.
I was considering Bartlett, but have recently learned a portion of Bartlett is zoned for the Memphis City School District and some of you have stated a possible merge between the city and county schools might happen, so I think I'd prefer to live in another parish... oops... I mean county.
I'm looking for the usual stuff: quality of life, cost of living, recreation, crime stats, high schools, etc., but from a personal point of view.
Thanks.

The Munford-Brighton area is wonderful. Very small, hometown feel. Your commute would not be too far. Many people who live in Bartlett are now moving out that way. The homes are cheaper and the lots are bigger.

Thanks, MrsRealEstate! You probably know that whole area very well. We'll be up there permanently the first week in July. Have to stay with the ex in Marion, AR until I find a place and a job, so I'll be looking diligently and desperately. Just doing some preliminary research on the Net so I'll know the areas in which to place focus.

I just bought a house in Brighton and I have a 12 yr old son. Anyway, I am wondering? Are the people friendly? It seems like it is a much slower pace than VA. and that is exactly what I am looking for. The kids out here in VA. aseem to be moving rather quickly for me.

Might want to ask this again on the Memphis forum, if you haven't. Cover your bases; these towns are relatively close to Memphis and people looking at the Memphis forum may have some opinions as well. (sorry, I don't know a thing about the areas)

I was wondering if anyone might know about renting a single family home in Brighton. I am in the Navy and curretly on deployment, and I just received orders to Millington. I have two small children and from the limited research I've been able to do, I seem to like Brighton schools the best. I was born and raised in San Diego, so this will be a HUGE move for me and any assitance would be greatly appreciated. I'm not ready to actually purchase just yet, I would like to get a feel for the area before I make any life altering changes such as that. Any websites or property management companies that you can recommend would be great!
