Tell Me About Smithville...
Is it a scenic area? Are people friendly?
If you have photos to share, that would be great!

Smithville is very scenic. Well, the area just north of Smithville around Center Hill Lake. Unfortunately, wealthy people in Nashville have discovered Center Hill Lake so that the prices are kind of high. But if you look at the rest of DeKalb County you can find some cheaper land.
Smithville just got a Wal-Mart SuperCenter. woohoo! Otherwise there's very little to do there as far as shopping or eating out. But you're only an hour from Nashville and 30 minutes from Cookeville.
The little downtown area of Smithville is very quaint, and every summer they hold a really neat festival called the Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree with lots of clogging, bluegrass, good food, etc.

Thank you for the info! We visited family near the Rock Island area
for the holidays, and I really, really miss the friendliness of the people-
friendliness even in the airport!?!?
Thank you again

Hello, Hschoolingfam. Smithville is a great town for scenery and friendliness. Most residents shop in McMinnville or Cookeville. The Fiddlers Jamboree is huge with amateur musicians from all over the country competing on acoustic instruments.

Sorry, Barb, but I live more than 200 miles from Smithville. I hope someone who lives there will see your post and help you out.

Yeah same here.
barb9911, why don't you ask people who live there in Smithville? Or look in the Smithville phone book? Don't you have neighbors you can ask?

Yes Smithville and the area in general is very beautiful. Havn't been there in about 20 years but there use to be the best old fashioned cafe downtown. Is it still there?

Physicians
Yes Barb there are several good Docs in our area. Family Medical Center (FMC) has the most concentrated docs in one building. They include the dean of Smithville doctors, Dr. Hugh Don Cripps (Cotton). There are several great docs in the building. Thre are several great else where in town besides. Also in surrounding counties. Eyes: Dr Meigs. Teeth: Dr Tatum. And I'm not saying the others are not good, only these are the one my family & I prefer.
