Bones, it's a treat to hear from you again. I'm still chuckling over your post about the Crossville traffic. I told my sister (who's still in Miami) about it, and she broke up, too. She wants to meet you if we move to Crossville because you're so funny. Since I've not been in the forums for long, I don't know the answer to this question--if you ever gave it. She and I couldn't decide if you are a man or a woman. Whichever you are, you make me laugh. Since I'm also still in FL, I need all the laughs I can get. So, thanks.

speaking about Crossville---------my wife and I took a trip to Crossville 9 years ago after it was a featured city in "Where to Retire" magazine. (we are from Ninnesota) We spent 3 days in Crossville.
One of the things that was "different" was ------on a Saturday morning---we came to busy intersection in Crossville at about 10 in the morning. I kept hearing voices hollering---------at all 4 corners were middle aged men (well dressed) holding a bible and screaming out messages to cars.
About 2 in the afternoon , very little traffic, we were driving past the courthouse and there was a man standing in the back of a pick up truck preaching to the few cars driving by using a very loud bullhorn.
I am not bashing this, but had not seen this before.
Is this commen on Saturdays in Crossville?

Hmmm, we spent 9 days in crossville back in may and although we didn't linger downtown, never saw that sort of thing; in fact, we never saw it anywhere we went...and we went to a lot of different towns! Maybe something special was going on that day?

Also, we struck up a conversation with a woman realtor. We told her we were a few years away from buying and were only "scouting the area" for future retirement.
She was kind enough to offer to give us a short tour of the city, some history, and show us a few of her listings as an example of the housing available.
After thanking her, I asked about Fairfield Glade ( as that was mentioned in the magazine)
She made it quite clear we wouldn't like it there because the people are "too high classed"----------her words!
Was she honest or was she against Fairfield Glade because she didn't have any listings there ?

Hi all- I also am looking to move to TN, mainly the KNoxville area. Just trying to figure out how to land a decent job there being form WI. I realize most employers would rather have local candidates, as opposed to outsiders. I sure don;t want to move there w/o a job lined up however. Any ideas how to overcome this catch-22? Thanks!!

I would suggest you get with the employment placement agencies in the town you are looking at and seeing what they have to offer. That whole"only hire locals" thing only really applies to a few companies, not all are that narrow minded, those that want to hire good qualified applicants, look at the qualifications.
