When I go to Cookeville I enjoy staying at Alpine Lodge. It used to be a Howard Johnson's and is located on top of a big hill with a beautiful view of Poplar Grove. I'll PM you their information. It's run by a husband and wife from Austria (hence the name Alpine Lodge) who are as friendly as can be. They also have mini-suites with kitchens for extended stays.

Alpine Lodge has really pretty views. Right off I-40 in Cookeville there are tons of hotels. County Inn and Suites (the newer one), Holiday Inn Express, Baymont, and several others.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn (Suites?) off I-40 at the easternmost Crossville exit. Nice place. If you use Google Maps to find it be careful it's misleading. It shows the hotel as being at the exit and/or downtown. Very strange...
