Comments on Russellville (East TN) ?
Does anyone live or know the area. I'm more interested in comments regarding their Elementary School (I've heard it's really good) and the community. I know it's near Morristown and a lot of people have concerns about Morristown being an industrial area. Thanks for any input.

Where did you hear that Russellville Elementary is really good? Go to the state's department of education web site to see school scores for every school in every school district in the state (Morristown is in Hamblen County):

Russellville scored all B's, which is an improvement over 2005 when it scored B's and C's. I noticed that Alpha Elementary scored all A's.

I agree with JMT. Russellville school is a bit on the underfunded side and has some issues. From what you have posted before about your wants and such, my opinion is that you won't be happy in Russellville. It is really barley more than a widening in the road.
Just my 2 cents.

Thank you guys, your experience in the area and comments are really helpful. I agree, it's a very small town and the school report is not that great...I checked it. ..... The best thing to do is to spend a weekend in the area and feel it a little bit, I will plan it. I can visit the Morristown city, Rogersville (which I really liked so far) and also Greeneville. Those are my 3 contenders regarding distance to work and distance to shopping areas

Great Area
I live in Morristown and my children attended Russellville Elem. I can not say enough good things about the school. Both of my children have made straight A's and score in the 97 and 98th percentiles on standardized tests. Before a school is judged on it's scores look at the socioeconomic data on the students. The number one indicator of how a child will do in school is parent involvement the second best influence is class size. Whitesburg Elementary has small class sizes and great scores.

Thank you tricker for your response, it's not very easy to find people that actually live in the Morristown area. I saw some reviews in teh Russellville Elementary and the parents were extremely happy with the school. Would you be able to give me more feedback in the Morristown area ? I started to look for houses and they're more expensive than other areas. I also would like to know what areas are OK to leave, it appears that the East side is newer and has more new developments. Thanks for any feedback. What kind of stores you have ? Is it a family friendly city ?

Morristown area housing is a bit more expensive due to the number of people relocating. It is a great location between Knoxville and the Tri-Cities. The east side does have a few newer developments but both sides of town are good. Morristown is a very family friendly community. What does your family like to do? We are really involved in sports, hiking, skiing and boating so it is great for us. Stores-Belk, Khol's, American Eagle at the mall. Outlet stores are everywhere in Pigeon Forge, which is about 40 min. (with no traffic) away. I hope this helps.
