Here is an article with a video at the end. The golf ball size hail at the end, wow! I'd never seen that.

At least with hurricanes, we get to watch it for several days before it hits.
Stupid question but please answer this flatlander, can tornadoes climb mountains? If yes, has anyone had that experience?

From the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (government website) National Weather Service:
"MYTH: Areas near rivers, lakes, and mountains are safe from tornadoes.
FACT: No place is safe from tornadoes. In the late 1980's, a tornado swept through Yellowstone National Park leaving a path of destruction up and down a 10,000 ft. mountain."

They used to say larger cities were safer from tornadoes . . . until one went right through downtown Nashville. I watched it go down Charlotte Pike like it had a GPS unit.

I love southerners. They have such a great sense of humor.
On the radar, Alabama looked awful and it was heading towards Georgia. I hope everyone is alright, especially gemkeeper.

Hail, hail the gang's all here - and a bunch of hail, too!!
Wish I had an easy button!! I know what I'd use mine for - and, I'm not telling!
Well, I am happy to see that all of the regulars here got through the storms without too much of a problem.
I feel just awful about the mom and her 9 month old who died. Poor dad must have felt so helpless. Tragedies befall anyone, good or bad, old or young, but they are all very sad.
We had 4 rounds of hail storms within about a 2 or 3 hour period. The second one was throwing out some hailstones almost as large as golf balls, but most were about grape-sized.
Poor dear son's car went through the wringer. It wasn't until later as I watched the news and saw how many people drove their cars under the protective canopy at area gas stations that I wish I would have thought to tell DS the same. But, that is probably when WE would have seen a twister and then I would have my son to worry about. Cars can be fixed; sons take a little more effort!
I am happy that you are all safe and sound. I hope everyone else chimes in tonight to let everyone know their situation. It is the ones you don't hear from that cause you to worry.
Thanks for thinking of me, Hik! It must have been your good thoughts that drew me into the fold tonight.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
