I also put on yard sales 2-3 times thru spring summer and fall. That's usually how I finance our vacations.
Anyone here involved with it?
Yet another great perk to move to TN!!

LOL! I once financed my plane ticket to Puerto Rico that way. This just made me laugh when I read your post because your the only other person I ever met that did that, too! I loved my vacation to Puerto Rico. That was one vacation I will never forget!

127 sale
Absolutely!! Some people may charge $10 per day to set up on their property, that is because they provide you with water and restroom, but otherwise there are plenty of places to park your RV on the side of the road and set up camp for a week. During this sale it's most rules don't apply!

I just wanted to bump this back up again, as the Largest Yard Sale in the World is coming up soon!
August 2 - 5, 2007 along the 127 corridor, from Gadsden Alabama, thru Tennessee, all the way to Covington Kentucky!
Those going, please let us know the treasures you pick up!

Hey Shenandoah - if you're still looking in the Crossville area for a home, there's one on realtor.com now in Centerville. 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 16.6 acres, it's an older home built in 1938 and listed for $149,900. The MLS number if you want to search is 829725.
As for the yard sale, too bad it doesn't correspond with our Tennessee meeting. I could head out for some shopping early in the AM and bring all my new treasures for us to go through!!

Hwy 127 is the mother of all yard sales. It was even better this year, 2009. The bad economy has kept people from spending for over a year and this is the one big splurge they allow themselves. Of course, my husband and I were shopping, not selling. We do every year. (This is the only yard saling my husband has ever been on! He's hooked on the hunting and fishing stuff.) I talked to every seller that I saw and asked them how sales were going. They all said "better than ever, despite the heat." Yes, it was hot. Yes, it was crowded. But if you like yard sales and bargains, it is well worth it. I made some great buys. And try out the 'worlds best fried pies' while you're there. Inside the Crossville Senior Center, many kinds, but please don't buy the chocolate raspberry, leave those for me!
