Anyone ever been to Sequatchie Pointe???
I have a flyer from a developer of Sequatchie Pointe. They are offering 3 days/2 night stay for $99.00. Of course, they expect to sell you 2 acres of land starting at $39,900. The area looks beautiful. Has anyone out there ever took their $99.00 offer and if so, can you tell me anything about the area?
Thanks

I live in the area, what questions do you have???? I can tell you that is is very beautiful here this time of year. The redbuds, dogwoods and cherry trees are blooming. I don't know where they are offering to let you stay, probably in the Kimball area???

Hi Daisy May,
We are leaving tomorrow morning (from Melbourne, FL) to visit both Sequatchie Point and Dunlap.
We are retired so we are not interested in schools and neighborhoods with children. Mostly, we would like to know the following:
1. Income Taxes? Understand their is no state tax
2. Property Taxes - Low?
3. Is there land on the Lake available? Was told that most land sites have a "water view".
4. Are there many retirees living in Sequatchie Pointe. Don't know what the developer has to offer in the way of homes. Are their log cabins/single family homes being built?
5. What is population?
6. Any stores locally where you can go shopping for food items
Last but least - any nice restaurant you can recommend that serves great food?
Thanks

Hi Fonz43,
Did you do the tour at Sequatchie Pointe? I was wondering what you thought of the development and if you purchased?

Sorry, I just saw your post!
No Income Taxes
Property Taxes will run about $500 for each $100,000 of your property's value.
The sites with a water view are up on a bluff above the lake. Sequatchie point has no waterfront sites.
There is one home being constructed at this point. I was up there about 4 months ago before this one was started.
It is a rural area with a few little quick stop stores. If you come off the mountain to Kimball or go to Chattanooga there is lots of shopping available.
There is a direct road being constructed at this time from the Nickajack Lake area up the mountain to Sequatchie Point. When this road is complete, you will be about 20 minutes from shopping, 10 or 15 to the lake.
Good Luck!

Can you provide us with some feed back from your trip to view the property. They are saturating the local papers here in Florida with their fliers!
We too are looking to relocate from Florida. Though we are not retired we are within 10 years of retiring so we are looking to downsize and maybe just get "no brainer" jobs, you know show up work and leave type jobs. No more office stress and politics!
We were thinking south of Knoxville but then this area cropped up and I absolutely love Pigeon Forge area, we rented a cabin there for a week and loved the remoteness!
Hope to hear from you.
Susan

Why don't you just drive to Tennessee and look for homes yourself? I'm astounded at the prices these developments charge. Come to Cookeville and find a great home in a great neighborhood for a reasonable amount! You don't need a developer charging outrageous prices just because you're from out of state. You just need a good realtor!

I am sorry to say that I also believe that some developers are taking advantage of the out-of-state people.........if you would like me to give you a phone # for a honest, local realtor let me know. I live in Marion Co. which is about 25 miles west of Chattanooga.

Hi Fonz,
We too are from Florida and have received the same ad as you. Can you tell us what you have learned? We are interested in a tour but that may be a few months away.
Thanks
