Default Confessions of a Superhero

I watched a documentary last night called Confessions of a Superhero. It's about 4 people who dress up as Superman, Batman, Hulk and Wonder Woman and walk Hollywood Blvd trying to get tourists to pose for photos with them and give them tips. Some superheroes (and other characters) behave more aggressively than others when doing this unusual form of panhandling and some have been arrested for their aggressive behavior. They all want to be Hollywood actors.

Anyway, the point is the young woman, Jennifer, who is Wonder Woman, is from Maynardsville, TN. At first she says she's from Knoxville but then says she's from Maynardsville and only says "Knoxville" because people haven't heard of Maynardsville. The people making the documentary actually go to Maynardsville to interview her parents and you see scenes from around the town when you hear about her life then and now.

Maynardsville is north of Knoxville, where Big Ridge State Park is located, for those who are unfamiliar with the town.

It's a very interesting, unusual and sad documentary about the lives of 4 unique individuals whose lives are intertwined because of what they do and one of them is one of us so I thought I'd mention it here. You can see a trailer from the documentary here:

Oh, you are so going to laugh. I saw that documentary over a month ago, when I got Netflix. It's the first movie that I downloaded to my computer.

Although the young lady does not have her accent anymore, I couldn't help but think, as I'm watching the movie, that her politeness was much like the nice girls around here. It was just the way she handled people. Then sure enough, she was from here.

She's a beautiful girl. I've tried to google her and see what she is doing, but I haven't found anything. I hope she is alright. It's sad to see how so many young people think they can just head out to Hollywood and make it big.

She had the most potential and the Hulk guy seemed decent, too. The other two aren't too with it and that's putting it mildly, but it was a good documentary. I enjoyed it and am happy to discuss it with someone else.

I checked on her on the IMDb and it says she's done an episode of My Name is Earl but I didn't see anything else. I know an actor (no experience/acting school) who just headed out to Hollywood when he was in his late 20s from Ohio, lived in his car for a week, got some parts in some B movies, was selected for a big part in a big movie fairly early in his career, was in several movies, some in decent sized parts including a fairly recent Oscar nominated picture (actress won) and is currently a regular on his second TV drama (an ensemble cast) that has been running for 4 years with him in it those 4 years. He's a working actor, now 50, but is not a big celebrity, who just finished a George Clooney movie. It has happened. I hope she does okay. She seems very sweet.
