Maryville, Seymour, or Vonore?
After 40 years of living in Illinois, we've made the decision to move to TN. We visited Eastern TN and just loved the people and the mountains! Now we just have to decide which area to live. A 12 year old with us - we want to have activities and places to visit. We liked Seymour for the mountain views but not sure on living there. Maryville looked nice. We're considering the Vonore area. Several people suggested middle TN is better than eastern TN.
We'll need to get jobs - so availability of jobs is important. Can anyone help us in making this decision? I would appreciate any honest thoughts!

Of those choices I would suggest Vonore. I lived nearby for awhile and the schools and kid programs were great. I am in Sunbright, and I would also suggest you look at Morgan County and Wartburg - there is no better place to live!! You can email me if you have more questions at imbrina@highland.net I travel throughout eastern and middle Tn for work, so I am happy to help you if I can.

Well, it's not on your list but I'd suggest Johnson City. I've posted many things about the area, but in a nutshell it's just the best place I've ever been. People are super nice, the mountains are nearby and jobs are good.
I don't feel like typing and rehashing what I've already said but feel free to PM me with any specific questions you may have if you are considering the tri-cities area.

Yes - I have started looking into Johnson City - I saw several good posts on this place. I wish now I would've visited it while we were there - just means another trip before we decide!

We're about 60 miles south of Chicago in Kankakee IL. What made you consider the area?

If you want to be close to everything, then Seymour is the place to live. It has changed so much in the last few years and hopefully some nicer restaurants will notice this new growth and head this way. The growth (Lowes, Home Depot, Ruby Tuesday) around the Super Walmart shows that the South Knoxville/Seymour area is the next "it" place to live, so to speak. I just think it is a great community within a short drive to Maryville, Knoxville and Sevierville

Your thoughts are quite interesting - as that was my thoughts as I traveled through Seymour. We spent a great deal of time driving around and saw the growth occurring. I did like the proximity to Maryville, Knoxville, and Sevierville - they all seemed 15 miles in either direction for jobs. Thanks!

I had a childhood friend from Kankakee. The main reason I decided to move to the area was the activities, the beauty and abundance of the nature, and the friendliness of the people!
