Thumbs up To Erwin we come...

Me, my mother and my 11yr old daughter are moving to Erwin in July. If anyone would have any comments or suggestions, we would greatly appreciate it. We have visited there and are very excited for this move.

Smile To Erwin we come...

Well there are a lot of things you can do here and lots of friendly people. I am from Southern California and moved to Unicoi actually, three years ago. It is 5 miles north of Erwin. There is a swimming hole at Rock Creek Park, camping and picknicking areas. There is a pool, tennis courts and fishing pond at Fishery Park. Many things to do here. A very cute old fashioned movie theater in town. A little farther away, there are drive-in theaters. Of course, the Nolichucky River has river rafting and fishing. There are great hikes to waterfalls. Part of the Appalachians goes through Erwin so many hikers visit here. You can always check out The Erwin Record, the local weekly newspaper, for more info.

Isn't anyone aware of the ground water contamination in Erwin, Nuclear Fuel Services has had repeated offences since the 50's and several law suites. I'd be afraid of the Lukiemia and other cancers, they were on channel 11 news again last week.

You will probably see a lot of things you haven't seen in 30 years in Erwin.
I used to know a lot of Osborns from that area. I lived across the Mtn. on the NC side for years.
