Default Whats going on with Saturn/GM Plant in Spring Hill?

Just wondering if anyone knows if the GM Saturn plant in Spring Hill, TN plans to take any transfers from Delphi or GM this summer, due to so many retirees/ buyouts? Thanks

Indy

My uncle works at the Spring Hill plant, and last I heard, they were talking about cutting production there in half. They built a new Saturn plant somewhere else that has more flexibility (can build multiple platforms at once), and they're using that plant more. So, the chances of them taking any transfers is probably pretty slim.

Indy-

I Just Heard That The Saturn Plant In Spring Hill Tennessee Was Taking Employees From The Plant In Doraville, Ga. But That Is After The Plant Here Closes So They Must Have Room For Other Employees. Good Luck!!! My Husband Works At The Plant Here In Ga.

Default Saturn

They hired at least 750 temp workers to replace the retirees, and had a total of abot 3k applicants. Currently they are still working on that group and I have heard nothing about bringing in people from other plants; doesn't mean they won't. The scheduled shutdown is anytime from Dec. - March for an overhaul of 12-18 months but there are no specifics.

Default I work @ Spring Hill

1-15-2007 : Just found this today ! I went to a special meeting last thursday over the "special Leave of Absence" for those that would be interested in retireing early- I have 34 years with Mother Motors', and out of two scheduled meetings combined no more than 300 people showed up with interest, more came to get updated as to whats happening within and when and where to report the first week of february. 1st week will pick a team, second week to pick a teamleader and the third week classes and not sure what you'll do till August when all will be called back with full production scheduled in September. It was said you'll be out again on unemployment sometime between april & august. Due to the economy Saturn needs 400 fewer workers and is in the mode of what to do as of today. The word is there won't be any transfers from any other plant. They have to figure out how to reduce the workforce they have now, and an offer of offering those with 26,27,28,29 years to retire is in the works to get the numbers they are looking for.( I'm outta there and don't plan to go back!).

Right now, we're both driving Saturn's. I don't care what anyone says, I think they are great vehicles. I've owned my 2000 for 16 months now, and I had to spend $30 for a part. That's it.

Go Saturn!

I work in the SPO in Hudson, Wisconsin and there are a few people who are wondering when the new car production start if they will be needing more personal? I was also wondering if anyone who might work at the plant could e-mail some excellent web sites to check out the area. Thanks Lpgababe
