Default Crime index for Jamestown, TN

Hello,

My wife and I are seriously looking into moving to Jamestown. One thing I was curious about was the crime index of 470 for such a small town. So, is it really that bad or are the numbers lying?

Thanks,
Ognen

Jamestown always seems like a calm place to me, but Tennessee has a lot of crime in General. If you live here most of your life, you're used to it. When I lived in Michigan, I was shocked at how little crime they had.

What is to be said of the "highlanders"? The people that live in the mountains? Are they friendly people? Probably reserved, but are they genuinely good people? Someone told me that there are a lot of Meth being made in the countryside and I might run into more than I can chew, forget the racism, LOL. Is there is any truth in that?

Our friends offered us half of their total property for half of what they paid, God bless their hearts, but I just don't know.......I would hate to move somewhere and be on the defense continuously. My children, God knows I'll protect them to the max! Yes, I believe in God, I also believe and live by the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. (LOL).

I have a really nice lady working with me in a different part of TN, but it's not the plan we all had in mind. There's some hard times heading to America, I believe that, we just wanted to be together, their family and ours, to help each other through these difficult times ahead.

Should I just weather the storm and whatever comes we just "handle" it? Or do I buy elsewhere, where it can be the same outcome and don't know anyone? These are my dilemma's.........

Yes. A local told me that going into the mountains up there might not be a good idea. I don't think it is even a racist issue. If they are making meth in those caves they certainly don't want anyone around.

But I am sure you are not buying land right next to them, right? I mean, are your friends having any problems up there or I they not living there, yet? I forget.

Please, please go visit. Only you will know if you like it. Being next to friends would be very good, but you MUST visit. There is only so much we can tell you.

Have you been to the area yet? If not, at least visit, I mean that for anywhere you would want to move too. Then get a face-to-face with a local realtor.

No, my friends just bought the property, not living their yet. Yes, I am planning on visiting. I just would hate to invest time and money and then come home disappointed, so I delay, somewhat overwhelmed.

Yes, we visited Chattanooga first. We were REALLY strapped for money. We had to camp. My husband's boss didn't give him his vacation paycheck so he had to call his mom, she had to pick it up, cash it, then wire it.

After all that, we moved to Knoxville, but we were able to visit it on that trip and found that was REALLY where we wanted to go.

It was very worth it.

You lost me somewhere, what are "highlanders" what mountain people are you speaking of? Sounds like some kind of T.V. afternoon special. Is there some mystic lost tribe of mountain cave people living unbeknownst to us. Gosh, Ive been stomping around these hills for over 30 yrs. and havent heard tell of them.

I think that "highlanders" is a generic term for people that live in mountainous regions. I beleive the Scots refered to themselves as Highlanders and Lowlanders.
