I am looking for a small town in tn to move to
Hi, ive new to this site, but in my search of states and cities ive wandered apon it a few times, and thought id try it out.
I am turning 21 in July as well as graduating school and my son is turning two that month too. We are planning to move about Feb or Mar 2010
I live in Nebraska right now, and i hate it. i love that i live in a smaller town, but i need a change, and i love TN. It would be just me and my son moving and ive never lived away from home in my life so im NERVOUS!!
I just am trying to narrow down a smaller town to live, and, of course i am going to go down and see before i buy so to speak.
Well i guess the point of my post is to get suggestions on some of the smaller towns to look into.
i want small town, good community, good schools, low crime, land for horses, nicer weather, somewhere where i can feel good about my son growing up there and feel confident about letting him play outside by himself as he grows up.
One problem i see about a small town is my career, i am in school for cosmetology and i dont know how the job market for that is in tn.
pls help

When you say "small town" just how small do you mean?
The economy in Tennessee is pretty lousy these days, but it's generally a bit better in the Nashville and Knoxville areas.
Another thing to consider: since you'll be moving away from home for the first time, you might want to live closer to Nashville since you can get cheap air fares from Nashville to Omaha on Southwest Airlines.
So, with that in mind, here are some small towns in the Nashville area you might want to consider:
Charlotte
Eagleville
Fairview
Kingston Springs
Portland
Watertown
White House

Fairview is the place...Williamson Co and the last part of it to develop. Get here now before the Walmart & Publix comes.

kinda hard for a single mom who is still in school to move to a different state, start a new job and buy ------" land for horses"-----all at once.
Wages must be really high in TN in order to accomplish that.

McEwen Tn, is a great place to live and raise children. we have one school that goes from prek to 12th grade. a very low crime rate. no traffic lights, we are about an hour from nashville. Our houseing rate is low compared to other arease and sm towns closer to nashville. Dickson is about 20min away. Could probably find a job there. We have 2 rivers and Kentuckly lake for reccreation. Lots of land for horses.
