Fairfield Glade, TN
Hi Everyone,
Please be patient with me. I am very new to this. Can anybody give me some info. on Fairfield Glade, TN? I would like to know if there is any decent land there that I could buy with the intention of building on that lot when I retire in 10-15 years. Also, what is the health care situation like there? Any information about this area that anyone can help me with is greatly appreciated. Thanks to all.

We just got back from there. Land can be affordable, and certainly is compared to other areas.
Medical is good with Cumberland Medical in Crossville. Knoxville, Oakridge, and Nashville are fairly close. Were were told that FFG gave CM land to build a center there. We were also told that they were going to build pads for helicopters to land for fast transport. Smart, that.
As for land, be cautious. There are some good lots at decent prices, but the listings can be deceiving. We found ourselves driving down what amounted to "lanes" cut out of the trees that will be roads "someday". Check for sewer, elec, and gas.
We did find some that were tempting. Valarian Terrace (north side of the road) slopes nicely down to a pond. Slope is necessary for a walkout basement. No digging there, blasting and jackhammers are required.
Renwick Drive at the NW corner of the Glade had a nice lot at the end of the cul de sac. Can't remember the lot number, but facing the end of the cul de sac (west) it starts at about the center and continues left to where the street and cul de sac meet. Large, irr lot that slopes away from the road and has Otter Creek on the back sides with common property beyond that. Can't remember$.
Wexford lane had a nice, large lot at the end. Slopes down to a golf course. Irr shape. I think it was $60k. One to it's right (north, I think) was smaller, rect, sloping and was $35k?
We found the area to be too rural for now. Our timeframe is much shorter than yours, so we aren't sure it will be grown up enough for us. For you, however, it might be just right.
Good luck in your search.

We live in Crossville, and my mother-in-law lives in Fairfield Glade. She can swim, go horseback riding, boating, or play tennis there. They also have bus trips every week for discount prices. I work for a fella that builds in Fairfield. He is very busy because people are really starting to move into this area since we have been here 3 years ago.
Tek_Freek was right, we have a very reliable hospital. The town of Crossville doesn't have any big malls that I was used to in PA., but they do have a used book store, Wal-mart, Kmart, Blockbuster, Staples and various other stores. I hope this helps.
