I think you are right. Spam is, I think, a processed, compressed form of ham in a can. I've seen it near the canned tuna and ham spread type stuff.

IMHO, Treat tastes better than Spam, and that's not saying much. But, hey, it was a cheap meat, back in my po' days. It was good fried along with haluski.

I am still wondering what Reese's kippers are. What is haluski? What does IMHO stand for? I think my mom gave us spam sandwiches when I was young, but I'm not sure, or it could have been liverworst.
Thanks, WC8

Reese's is just a brand name. Kippers are salted and smoke herring fillets, generally canned similar to sardines. They're more popular in England than in the US. I believe they're a Jewish staple as well.

IMHO: In My Humble Opinion
Haluski: Fry up cabbage in butter (real butter, not the greasey motor oil), boil noodles, drain the noodles, then mix the cabbage, butter and noodles together. Serve with kielbasa, fish during Lent, pieroghies. A good Hunky/Polish food staple. I'll be making up a big batch when we move down so MBMouse can get a taste of home.

I almost forgot - you chop up the cabbage before frying in butter. Again, REAL BUTTER.

My Polish family makes Haluski , Boiled cut up cabbage , noodles , cooked down bacon in small pieces , sauted onions , and lot's of fresh dill weed mixed in after mixing the cooked food . Then We mix in cottage cheese, large curd , after it cools a bit so that it does not melt to much . No bacon during lent .
