Airports
My husband and I are going to be making a trip to TN and AL in June. We live in Punta Gorda Fl, so we will probably fly out of Ft Myers or Tampa. We are interested in Tri-City area and Chattanooga area of TN, and the Scottsboro area of AL. We thought we would fly into Atlanta then rent a car and go see the areas we are interested in moving to. Any thoughts on airports closer then Atlanta would be appreciated. We didn't want to waste our time driving 12 hours to TN.

Chat - Aligent air .?
K.G. Stay away from Atlanta, Drive on I-75 is terrible, many construction / accident delays. Chat airport nice and modern. This year maybe 3-4 time a week specials only $39 or $49 think Aligent Air.
Know they were using North Orlando at Sanford, believe also the St Pete / Tampa hub. Sure web search will have details.
Nine day music festival in Chattanooga JUNE,Moderator cut: link so check your dates.

Do like we do, drive at night. No traffic and you hit Atlanta before the morning rush. We left at 11 p.m. one night and got there by noon and still had all day to drive around. Other times we've left at 4 a.m. and still got there in the afternoon. We live in Citrus County. Considering paying for the rental and the price of gas doing as much driving as you plan to, it may be cheaper just to drive. Just my thought as we did the same thing. Drove around for 3 days looking at property.

Wow that really is a good deal. With gasoline approaching $3/gallon, it's not a whole lot more expensive to fly from St Pete to Chattanooga or Knoxville and then just rent a car once you're up here. It'll certainly be a lot less hassle than driving from Florida. Or you could fly out of Orlando to the Tri Cities.

I agree with Orlando to Tri-Cities. But here is a thought. If you want to see Tri-Cites, Chat and AL, instead of back tracking, fly into the Tri-Cites rent the car from a national Co. Drive to Chat and where you want to see then fly out of Atlanta back to FL. Chat to Atlanta airport is only about 5 hours, maybe less. I know I can get to the Atlanta airport from Tri-Cites in 5 hours and it has to be shorter from Chat?
As I said, just a thought.
