Default Trying to convince the hubby that TN is the place to head to!

I'm originally from MI, hubby is an Ohio native that crossed over the MI border quite a few years ago for business opportunity. Things have change in a very short time period. We found ourselves fleeing MI's economy last year and came to Ohio as a hold over, more or less. Close enough to MI in case we sell our property there, far enough away to feel like we've sort of escaped.

Now, I am ready for more! It has been accepted that our property isn't selling anytime soon, so we might as well live well while we wait out the economy. I have been trying to convince him about TN for a while.

Have any of you former MI's folks moved down there with horses, or gotten into the horse scene upon arriving? One major hold back for me is the severe drought the south has been experiencing, and we're moving with hay burners. So... while the drought is nothing major to the normal person relocating, it's a major factor for us.

Just a comment, last years drought was an uncommon occurance (it was just a weird weather-year all the way around . . . record drought, record high temperatures for many days). I think with all the rain we've gotten this fall and winter that the only area still listed as having a problem is centered around the Chattanooga area. Of course, we could have another drought next year, but the chances are that either we won't, or it will be less severe than it was last year.

Actually, I find the recent drought monitor to be surprising. The creeks around here are overflowing.

Im in Mid TN and in 18 years of feeding hay burners this is the first year hay has been scarce and expensive. I agree with allycats assessment of last yrs. drought.

The question is more like -- anyone from Michigan left in Michigan? Same for Ohio and Indiana.
