Northcountrygirl - those were both beautiful poems. The one about Tennessee expressed my feelings about the state I want so much to move to, God willing! And your poem about your husband, well, I read that and said, hey, that's Lou!

May God bless you richly on your journeys,

Shen

Thanks Shenandoah! I appreciate your praises. The impact of my trip down to Tennessee was so great I had to dedicate "For Tennesse" to the people who live there. It was my way of saying "Thank You" for the most enriching experience, it turns out, that I've ever had. Tennesee has gotten in my soul and I truly am homesick for her. I posted "A Man Who Works With His Hands" for Ridgerunner to thank him for his praise of my writing and his request to see more. Any woman who has the love of a man who takes the time to show her he loves her is a very lucky woman. Thanks again.

Northcountrygirl, come on down. Tennessee needs you. And please bring all of your poetry.

I sent that poem to my husband - it brought a tear to his eye. I am blessed with my Man Who Works With His Hands.

I wrote this haiku for my mother, a few years ago, for Mother's Day:

My Mother's Hands

Years of toil have wrought
Gnarled rough hands, tough, strong, limber
She hugs me, they're soft

blessings, Shen

shenandoah! You have a way with words. Poetry comes from slowing down long enough from our busy lives to notice the beauty in the world around us, which is why I am so in love with Tennessee. I can do that there.

You write beautifully. I wrote poetry from about age 13 to maybe 26...and then I wrote a few for my future husband at the time around 29-30. I think some of the were pretty good. I am 34 and have lived in FL for almost 4 years and have not written one poem since I moved here. I pray that when I get there, that inspiration will come back!

Thank you for sharing and for giving me another something to look forward to!

Thank you beachbyrd. If I can help to inspire you to once again notice the beauty around you and remember the beautiful and important things in life and get you to write about them, then I will be truly happy. If the mood strikes you and you write, I would love to read your words. I can assure you that Tennessee will inspire your passions again.

Great poem about Tennessee. I moved to Florida for 7 years back in the 80's and there was not one day that I did not want to be back "Home" in Tennessee.

This is where my roots are, and someday this is where I'll be planted.
