Default Pressure Canner test, McMinn Co

A pressure canner Guage Testing Day will be held Saturday, June 27, from 8 to 10 a.m. at the McMinn County Farmers Market the showbarn off Highway 30.
There is no charge for the service and those interested only need to bring their pressure canner lid.
For more information, contact Sarah Johnson of the McMinn County office of the University of Tennessee Extension Service at 423-745-2852

found out about a canning college

The University of Tennessee Extension in McMinn & Meigs Counties are have a course to help with canning foods safely at home. I'ts in two day course.
Topics covered are
1. Preserving jams and jellies
2. pickling
3. using a waterbath canner
4. using a pressure cooker



Meigs County High School on July 14 & 16 from 2-4pm

McMinn County High School on July 27 & 28 from 6-8pm

if interested in registering, call UT extension office at 423-745-2852

** there is a $30 registration fee to cover the ost of supplies and produce for the class
you get to actually can something and take a few jars home with you and on the 2nd day you get a very nice canning booklet for graduation
