FloridaChris,
Welcome to the forum & eventually TN. My wife & I are new to TN, about a month now, from Tampa. I may be of some assistance to you however as I have recently posted a new thread with a little comparison to costs in Tampa.
Just do a search for "new residents of Gods country (w/pics)" to view. I hope you find it helpful.

That's definitely understandable. I'm a recovering Floridian myself.

Are you looking for a small town? Country living? Big city? Do you need to find a job? How about schools?

There are plenty of places in TN with very inexpensive housing, but the schools often aren't very good and there are very few jobs.

a good place to retire though to i guess. if you dont need a job, you just want to be secluded and hang out. i may retire up there someday, who knows... just not before then i guess.

A recovering Floridian. That is great. JMT, you think of all the great stuff.

"Hi. I'm Heidi and I'm a recovering Floridian!"

It's kind of like when I started my job and I introduced myself to the training class, told them I was from Florida, and was met with a chorus of sympathetic sounds!

I agree, North Fl IS nice, but I was south east...Jupiter. I couldn't stand it from the day I step foot in it. But I was dragged there before I was of an age to make my own choice, but at as soon as I had an opening, I ran! LOL
I grew up in the woods of a Podunk town in CT. So I am a country girl at heart, can't and don't want to change who I am, FL didn't fit my bill. TN....home
