The song was Anyway.

You can spend your whole life buildin'
Somethin' from nothin'
One storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

You know, I don't think Martina has ANY bad songs. My favorite is "Cry on the Shoulder of the Road." Not as popular, but I love it.

When I lived in Mass. I was a country music critic for the paper. We have a country music venue there and I was fortunate to interview or review many people. So yes, country is around in a lot of places, especially small towns.

In fact, I'm surprised that Knoxville does not have more country music stations. I think "Merle" is a great addition. Prior to that, it was sadly lacking. In fact, the town I lived in Florida had MORE country music stations.

There seems to be more Christian stations then country music stations.

WDVX is great.

By the way, I got to meet Kris Kristopherson, when I had that job. This was in the 1980s. He was not that handsome in person. He looked really rough. He was coked out of his mind at the time, but was saying publicly that he had quit drugs. Anyway, he was absolutely brilliant and a very nice person. Years later, I saw an interview where he admitted that he had lied for years about being off drugs.

I met Tanya Tucker and she was really drunk.

Glen Campbell was kind of a stiff. He had on the "Top Gun" aviator glasses, with the suit and red 1980s "power" tie. I said so in my review.

Marie Osmond was absolutely beautiful and very friendly.

Tammy Wynette was a lady through and through.

Roy Clark acted like he was your next door neighbor, a genuinely nice man. I felt like I could ask to borrow his lawnmower and he would be happy to oblige.

Boy you and I could swap some story's! LOL Way back when I was a Theatrical lighting director and designer, met lots of great entertainers, met a lot of jerks too hahahahaha
One of my favorite shows I did was for Blood Sweat and Tears and The Association at the Lyric Theater in Stuart Fl. Great group of people.
I think (going way back here....you know how the memory is the first to go LOL!) But I believe the only country entertainer I did lights for is Leon Red Bone in West Palm Beach....wasn't much of a singer but boy what a hoot! LOL

Default Country Music For Me

All is listen to now is country music. I even listen to country music in my office at work.

Does anyone know if there are any good FM country music stations in Crossville and Cookeville?

Default Country Music

I am disturbed by one aspect of today's Country and it is this: Until the nineties an upcoming artist could make it on talent alone. But since the emergence of music videos and satellite TV performers must also be physically appealing. Who knows how many great talents we will never know about because they wouldn't look good on TV? The same thing has happened in NASCAR racing.

For what it's worth-

I met Tanya Tucker backstage at the Opry last month. She was SO nice to everyone, and her kids were extremely polite and well-mannered.

Maybe you met her before motherhood fully kicked in? Or maybe I met her on a good night. LOL!

I heard Glenn Campbell is 71 today. The radio played "The Lineman". Still gives me goosebumps.

For the record, I met Tanya in the 80s, well, before motherhood. And you know what? She was a very NICE drunk!

All of those people I met were during the 80s.

I love "Wichita Lineman." It was my first 45!

Bear in mind that it was written by Jimmy Webb. That's all I have to say about that!

I agree with you on that one. I was going to ask if all women in Tennesse were beautiful blond haired, blue eyed girls with 8 ft. legs. Cheeeesh!! Of course I'm just jealous being brunette with hazel eyes and pony legs . But you're right. Not all of us are impressed by that though. My love of country music is strictly the lyrics and the message. I'm not too impressed by looks and I'm sure there are quite a few of us who aren't. As far as NASCAR goes being cute won't bring you over the finish line now will it

That is so true! My seven-year-old is a beautiful blond with blue eyes. She is a dime a dozen. I go to pick her up at school and I can't figure out which one she is. This area also has the most natural red-heads I have ever seen. That's saying something, considering I'm from Irish Massachusetts.

If you are a brunette with brown eyes you stick out like a sore thumb!
