I've come far far away from rock cause there's nothing good going on there. I'm a fan of New Country due to its resemblence to what we called southern rock a few years back and it's about real people doing real things in the real world and I'm a real world kinda person. So let's hear it. What are your opinions concerning country music Tennesse? (including future Tennesseeans).

Not much of a Country Music fan but lately I have been listening to Reckless Kelly. I like his stuff.

Never really cared for that Redneck Girl chick but I saw her singing at a Heart tribute and WOW! That girl can sing! No kidding, hitting every note that Ann Wilson hit back in the day and with a ton of power. Hats off girl

What they call country music today isn't!!! Country music sounds like George Jones and of course the later Porter Wagoner. I know I used to be a county music disc-jocky back in the 60's and 70's

I respectfully disagree. Rock doesn't sound the same today as it did 30, 20, or even 10 years ago. Does that mean it's not rock? Of course not. Genres grow and change. Country today can be George Strait's pure sound, more bluegrass like Little Big Town, a rockin' Keith Urban guitar anthem or blended into a Bon Jovi song with Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles.

Nothing stays the same. I love the country music of the 60s and 70s, so I don't fault your nostalgia. I just think there's room in the format for all kinds of music.

I can't wait to see the CMAs tonight. Should be one heck of a show!

You tell 'em akm4!

Riverview, I think you are thinking of Gretchen Wilson. She's a fantastic singer, and has a very interesting background.

I use to deal with many country bands, and musically, they are the best. You'd be surprised how many of those musicians have professional music degrees from the best schools in the country.
