Question Heat Pumps ?warm fuzzies

Hey mbmouse, did you buy a new heat pump? I was reading old threads and noticed some time ago you said you didn't like yours as it ran all the time and you thought your bill was a bit high. I've not been impressed with the ones around here. At present,we have propane and love the warm heat but don't think we will do it again as prices just keep going up! From various real estate sites, it looks like heat pumps are the most common system around there. I was curious (as this winter has been colder all over) if you had bought another brand or went to something else altogeather and if so, how's it working?

Any & all comments about these little "modern conveniences" will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Default Small woodstove-Good back-up.

I think a small woodstove is on the agenda by next winter. We have new house, with a ton of wood next door, but went the electric route. Summer a/c budget was only about $40, but coldest winter month got electric over $100, and still set below 70.

I wish! No hubby says it works just fine and he likes it. He's the engineer, what do I know. LOL!
I still prefer oil heat.

Spit, that's a great idea. A fireplace or wood burning stove may be almost a necessity as a backup and/or supplement.
We had oil heat growing up and I don't ever remember feeling cold. It seems the houses I've been in with heat pumps, I never feel warm enough. Could be I'm just more sensitive to the cold. Oh well, what will be will be and I'll grab a sweater :>)
Thanks
