Default Fairfield Glade & Crossville

My husband is retired and we are looking at 55+ communities. My friend's mom lives in Fairfield Glade and it looks beautiful. From what I'm reading on the internet, Fairfield Glade is close to Crossville. Any input on either of these areas/communities would be extremely helpful. We are probably going to visit in August but would like any input if anyone has been to either place. What is Crossville like?
Thank you!

FFG Fair Field Glade is about 5-7 miles NE of Crossville as the crow flies...Lake Tansi is 7-8 miles as the crow flies South.. You have to do loads of reading you have HOA in FFG and POA in Lake Tansi..

FFG is basically "GOLF" community... mostly retired. If you write the Chamber of Commerce they will gladly send you information. This is true with most City ~ Towns ~ County http://www.crossville-chamber.com/ Crossville is the " Golf Capital of Tennessee..
I would suggest highly that you set up a bogus e-mail address and name for correspondence this way you get to choose who and whom you talk with till you get to know more about them... This is in regards to all the Real Estate you will get from the area...

If you like to golf, then Fairfield Glade is hard to beat.

Crossville is located atop the Cumberland Plateau so its temperatures are, on average, about 5 degrees cooler than here in Knoxville. Sometimes it's more like 10 degrees cooler. That can definitely be a bonus in the dog days of summer, but it also means they tend to get a bit more snow than we do here in the valley.

Crossville has a spectacular playhouse, I believe it's one of the smallest towns in the country with a professional theater. The Cumberland County Playhouse draws crowds from 100 miles away.

Property taxes in Cumberland County are very low. Housing costs are low. On the flip side, you might end up driving to Cookeville or Knoxville to eat out or do more shopping than what Wal-Mart and KMart can provide. But for a lot of Fairfield Gladers, it's a good trade-off.

You might be interested in seeing the video at the link below. On the video, the Mayor of Crossville promotes the City of Crossville as a great retirement area. I like the area as well and plan to retire in the Monterey area between Crossville and Cookeville.

Fiarfield Glade has an AWESOME Golf instructor named Karen. If you golf and need some lessons, she would be a great one to check out.
