Default Cumberland county and alchohol

We recently purchased land in cumberland county. We were told that most likely with the next vote, the county will not be dry anymore. Harriman is only a hop skip and jump from where we will be and it is not that difficult to get to but it would be nice to have liquor sold right there. What are the chances?

Even with the big retirement population I'll still be suprised if it passes.
Are you talking about liquor by the drink or package stores?
Cookeville's had liquor by the drink for several years but I don't expect package stores to even be on the ballot anytime in the near future...

Default Liquor in Cumberland county

You can purchase liquor by the drink at various restaurants. I am speaking of package stores. Anyone have any feelings on what a next vote will bring?

I lived in Crossville for a year or so and I am telling you there will not be a package store there in your lifetime nor your kids. Of all the places I have lived (many) that is the most conservative. Liquor by the drink blew me away.

Default Harriman is close

thank goodness..not that I drink daily but I do like a martini on Friday nights and an occasional glass of wine.

When we visited, people seemed sure it would be happening in the next five years. I guess they just told us what we wanted to hear. Friends of ours would not look in Crossville just for that reason. They purchased in Rockwood.

It would surprise me. But then again with all the wealthy transplants moving in, if it came to a vote, it might likely pass. You can purchase wine at the wineries.

An update on this. Package liquor stores are on the ballot in November.

I bet it passes. There is someone that is already betting on it. Is in the process of getting a store ready.

I'm really sad to see these dry counties start selling booze. I live in a dry county in Blairsville and moved here because it is dry. I'm from California and knew it was dry when I moved here. I'm concerned about the transplants who move to an area and insist that the way of life change to suit them. Is it any wonder people don't feel like they fit in? Sad to see the south become like Florida, Yankeeville, or dreaded California.
