Default Jackson area?

We are a young family being relocated to Jackson. I am looking for input on good places to live. Have been focusing on North Jackson, but would look outside of city limits as well. Would like fairly new construction on .5 acres or better with access to solid schools. I'm slowly becoming familiar with some subdivision names like Ramblewood and McIntosh Place, but really don't know much about the area. Resale value will be very important as well. We love outdoor recreation (fishing, camping etc.) so proximity to those sorts of things will come in to play also.

Can anyone provide some input on the area? I know it's a broad question, and I'm a first time poster, but any color would be great.

Thanks for your help,

JC

Well, you can get your fish on at Kentucky Lake or Pickwick, both a reasonable distance from town. You also have a few state parks (Natchez Trace, Chickasaw, Nathan Bedford Forrest) for camping/hiking. There's also Land Between the Lakes, a bit farther away but worth the trip for a weekend.

I cannot speak to areas of Jackson to live in, as I am from Dyersburg and our main use for Jackson was for shopping. But as for areas around Jackson, I had family in Bells, Humboldt and Selmer, and all were nice small-town places.

Good Luck.
