Went to Crawdaddys last Sat night. Very good. Have been to El Tapatio and that also was good. Did not care for Strods BBQ at all. I live right around the corner from them & wanted it to be good, but I just didn't care for it. Will be trying Moogy's soon. Also had a quick sandwich outside at Poets for lunch one day last week. Loved sitting outside on the square on a nice fall day.

I'm sorry you didn't like Stroud's! What didn't you like about it? I've never had Moogy's but I've heard it's good. I personally think Bobby Q's has excellent bbq in Cookeville--and some pretty good banana pudding, too.

When I was in town last month, my hosts took me to El Tapatio. They are regulars there and were treated quite well. The food was above average, with good salsa too. Also went to Cheddars and found it just OK (although the waitress kept refilling my drink as we watched the end of a baseball game).

Too Vinegary for me. I'm a big fan of Lefty's in FFG. But I mostly like a sweet BBQ sauce, not overly spicy. I'm going to try Bobby's Q's soon, will wait until after the 15th. My wife will be here for good then & I'd like to take her there.

Ah ok, that does make sense. I like my bbq to be spicy and vinegary which is one reason I like Stroud's. If I remember correctly Bobby Q's has a spicy sauce as well as a sweet sauce. But seriously, be sure to order their banana pudding.

We tried Char's Steakhouse on the square. My husband enjoyed his prime rib. I had the tuna, but am probably spoiled with Fla. seafood and probably wouldn't order it again. The salad was very fresh and enjoyable. The service was also good.

Gondola's Italian restaurant opened up again on S. Jefferson across from the movie theather. It seems like it opened and closed about once a year during the past few years. The food was okay, but we prefer Mama Rosa's for pizza.

Also, the original Thomas Andrew's restaurant suffered a huge roof water leak and they have moved across the street. I definitely liked the atmosphere of the original building, but the new location does have an outdoor patio on the back. The food is still of the same quality. They are trying to sell the original building, but it definitely needs some serious repair.

I love Mauricio's on N. Peachtree. It is very romantic and in a historic house that has been turned into a restaurant. Very popular and incredible food in a charming atmosphere. Good for lunch or dinner.

Maddux Station on the courthouse square is also excellent (though a touch overpriced in my opinion).

Hello everyone! I moved here about 4 months ago and here are my thoughts.

1. I know I might upset some people on this one but I found El Tapatio to be not very good at all. Everyone in my party (family that had come to visit) all thought the same.

2.Cinco Dey Myo ( I know I spelled that wrong) VERY good Mexican food. Wife was impressed and she is hispanic.

3. Mama Rosas. Good pizza and stromboli, everything else sort of bland.

4. Bobby Q's. Average BBQ but GREAT banana pudding

5. Mauricio's. Great atmosphere, good food and SUPERB garlic cream sauce. Owners are very attentive and make sure things are done correctly.

6. HOT. GREAT curry stews. Best I have ever had.

7. Taiko. Great place for light food. Nice noodle soups and tasty korean and garlic fried rice.

8. Puleo's Grill. Very good chicken chili, great salads and great ribs.

9. Matties. Have been there only for breakfast and I was shocked...in a good way. Nice, large breakfasts at VERY low pricing.

10. Oh Charlies. SUPERB potatoe soup. Don't know about anything else as I could not stop eating that soup.
