Murfreesboro has affordable housing, a strong job market, and is experiencing extreme growth. Zoning has done a great job with the appearance of current expansion projects and the town is taking on a very pleasing "look" as you drive through. Our schools here are excellent but private schools are also available. Sport for children and adults are huge here with soccer, football, softball, baseball, rugby, you name it and Murfreesboro has it. We are the exact center of the state of TN with quick access to Knoxville, Atlanta, Chattanooga, and of course, Nashville. If you would like more information, please visit my website at http://LINK REMOVE...sement) and send me a quick email or call my cell. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have and get you as much data and information as I can. Have a great day!

Thanks! I also responded to one of your other entries before I read this one. I just wondered how the people are also. We are coming from CA so I know some people don't like that. Do the people welcome new people?

Hi Kim,

I answered you on another post. People here are VERY welcoming. If you like to talk to people then you will love living here! EVERYONE talks. Everyone at the gym gets to know you by name. The clerk at the coffee shop remembers what I like to order. I'm new to this forum and I guess you are not suppose to post website links. They seem to have removed mine in previous posts. If you click on my name and view my personal profile I have my website list there. Feel free to privately email me anytime for specific information of questions. Have a great day!

I went to MTSU for a year. That was a while ago though... I've heard the area exploded with Nashville commuters and traffic is crushing.

On a funny note (and I don't know if it is still this way): M'Boro is the only town I have seen with two, yes two Waffle Houses at one exit (one on each side of the highway for each direction). If you like Waffle House and can't bear to cross one lane of traffic you will be in heaven!

There was a very vibrant nightlife/restaurant scene... again, I don't know if that still exists, but I was very surprised by the choice and quality there.

I wish I could tell you more, but I don't think being a college student for a year in an unfamiliar town is equivalent to someone moving their family there.
I had fun though!

Make sure you explore the region. There are some amazing outdoor activities (hiking, rafting, caving etc.).

A very fast growing bedroom community 20 minutes outside Nashville. A great place to live if you like fast growing communities. MTSU is located here and has become the fastest growing university in the state. Many new schools but beginning to experience the problems you find with urban sprawl. Government leadership is lacking, school superindent not much to speak about {affects schools}. Plenty of jobs, new homes with reasonable pricing {homes prices have yet to decline}. Traffic not overwhelming yet but give it time. They are trying to locate a biblical theme park right on the outskirts. No one wants it except county officials who worry about the tax base. People are friendly and area is relatively safe. On a scale of 1 to 10, compared to similar sized cities, Murfreesboro is probably a 7. But if they don't put a stop to rapid growth, well, welcome to Atlanta.
